Pinecrest

Pinecrest

Found south of Coconut Grove, east of Kendall, and north of Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest is a best-of-all-worlds village that offers sophistication and luxury living with a tight-knit community and green spaces galore. With some of the best schools in the Miami area, Pinecrest attracts families with children, but it also draws others who want to be close to the city while enjoying nature nearby, including Biscayne Bay.

Although not incorporated until 1996, Pinecrest was a key location in the development of Miami. Henry Flagler used it as a staging area during the building of the Overseas Railroad to the Florida Keys. In the 1930s, Parrot Jungle, now located on Watson Island, was a prime tourist attraction, and during the 1950s, development took off. Today, the village is proud of its own fire, police, and public works departments, and it counts multiple parks within its boundaries for fun, relaxation, and nature appreciation.

Luxury Home Styles for Every Taste

You will find homes to suit every architectural preference and lifestyle in Pinecrest. There are properties dating from the 1930s, as well as new construction since the revitalization started after Hurricane Andrew in 1992. From ranch homes to gated estates, Pinecrest has it all, whether you’re looking for Colonial, Mediterranean, Key West, or contemporary styles.

Featuring massive lots and generous square footage, Pinecrest is home to some of the priciest mansions in the county, and they offer every modern convenience with beautiful landscaping. Lush gardens are the norm, with manicured lawns, mature trees, and towering palms on every street. Larger homes offer seclusion, swimming pools, cabanas, and all the interior luxuries you can imagine.

Abundant Recreation, Top Schools, and Handy Amenities

What was once Parrot Jungle is now Pinecrest Gardens, the “crown jewel” of the village’s many parks and host to an annual fine arts festival. It has retained many of the original natural features of its earliest days, such as caves and streams. It also has tropical botanical gardens, a swan lake, a petting zoo, and more for visitors and those hosting private parties and receptions.

Five public parks are managed by the Pinecrest Parks and Recreation Department, with water features, athletic fields, tennis courts, and playgrounds. Red Road Linear Park is a walking and bicycle path along Snapper Creek Canal. To the east of the village lie the Fairfield Tropical Botanic Garden and the R. Hardy Matheson County Preserve on Biscayne Bay for boating and fishing.

Pinecrest boasts “A” rated public schools and also has six exceptional private schools, including Gulliver Preparatory School, which is one of the best private high schools in Florida, with top-ranked college prep programs. Aside from a public library, Pinecrest has a post office and multiple services, plus a grocery store and restaurants, many along US Highway 1, also known as the Southern Dixie Highway.

Shopping enthusiasts will love Pinecrest for the two nearby large malls located just outside the village. Dadeland Mall has more stores to choose from than you could get through in a week of shopping, anchored by major department stores, and features a food court and several well-known restaurants. Meanwhile, The Falls is a gorgeous open-air shopping complex with more favorite stores, in addition to a cinema complex and many international eateries.

Although the city of Miami is close by, you can find everything you need in Pinecrest for convenience and easy living.
