Located to the northwest of the city of Miami, Doral was named for Doris and Alfred Kaskel, who developed the land in the 1950s. They transformed 2,400 acres of swampland into a beautiful golf course and country club where beach vacationers could spend a day on the links — today the Trump National Doral Miami golf resort with its famous Blue Monster course. The Kaskels were instrumental in establishing Doral as a PGA host, and residential growth took off in the 1980s.
